Picking Blueberries

This week we had an eye specialist appointment for R in a city that is full of things to do. Too bad I hadn't planned on doing anything. I hadn't planned on anything because he usually gets his eyes dilated and is very sensitive to light afterwards, but he didn't have to have the dilation this time. Yay! So our day turned into a spontaneous blueberry picking, picnicking adventure, outside of the city.

Not only was it really fun, it was super cheap. We paid 2 dollars for half a gallon of fresh blueberries and the experience of picking them.  Later that night we made yummy blueberry milkshakes and enjoyed the fruit of our labor.  You can find a "U- pick" farm near you by visiting here.

After the impromptu blueberry extravaganza we went on a picnic at our local park.  One of R's favorite things to do is go on a picnic. He loves picnics so much that if I call eating at the table a "table picnic" it makes the experience infinitely better. We ate and played catch. It was a wonderful day.

What have you been doing to enjoy the summer weather?
